New Orleans Fundraiser was a Huge Success!

The Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), in conjunction with the media center and Music Department, hosted a book drive and fundraiser two weeks ago to raise money for two New Orleans schools whose libraries were decimated by Hurricane Isaac last year.  Students donated over 1,050 books in good condition and raised $675 which was donated to John L. Ory Magnet School and Emily C. Watkins Elementary School in person on the Music Department's student trip to New Orleans last week! This was more successful than we could have imagined.  Thank you, Ridgeview family, for your generosity!

Scholastic Book Fair 2011 - The Best Ever!

Thank you to Ridgeview's PTA, Co-Chairs Katie Arney and Carol Shutley, and Ridgeview students, parents, and staff for the best book fair we have ever had!  The total sales of the book fair was over $7,000 and the media center will receive over $4,000 to purchase new books and materials for our library.  More importantly, Ridgeview students and staff raised almost $700 in our One for Books campaign.  Our goal was $500 and you far-exceeded this goal!  The entire school will receive a special jeans day!  Scholastic matches these funds dollar for dollar and also makes a matching donation to organizations in the community.

Ms. Lessinger’s homeroom raised the most money (an average of almost $4 per student) and received a donut party.

Special thanks to the following homerooms which also raised a large amount of money – Mr. Grant’s, Ms. Billie Williams', and Ms. Furst’s.

I thought the book fair selection was great this year, and we already have some of the wonderful new books on our shelves!
